I'm taking off for the weekend soon and before I go, I wanted to leave you with the new video from the Women's Media Center. Do check it out. It's well done. I particularly like the creepy music and the sassy quotes interlaid with the medley of media clips.
Says Carol Jenkins,
"As our new video shows, the media's sexism is not specific to a candidate or campaign. But the presence of a woman, front and center on the national political stage, has sent shockwaves through a media grappling with ongoing problems of diversity. Hillary Clinton's campaign has cast a spotlight on the institutionalized sexism that The Women's Media Center was founded in 2005 to combat, providing us with a unique moment to examine ourselves and the media we consume."
Nice, WMC!

Saw this and plan to put it up myself on my blog. It's very well done. Nothing like condemning the horses with words from their own mouths.
Interesting. But roughly half the clips seem to be Fox News. What do you expect from Rupert Murdoch media? Try looking at Page 3 of the Daily Sun in the UK.
As for the dress and makeup, well was there not a book "Dress for Success" ?
To my way of thinking the "fat slobs" have a much harder time - both male and female - than the "cool and suave"
There is a Canadian political commentator - Mike Duffy - he is the odd person out. Not sure you would see him on most TV channels ... he is not "cool" in appearance.
Let me ask a question. Why did Nixon lose to Kennedy way back when ? Was the "five o'clock beard shadow a factor?
Sadly, the way we look is a factor ... not our brains!!!
gryff :)

Yeah, Fox, I know...And Gryff - I'm curious about masculinity and appearance and whether male candidates are similarly judged. We are the beauty culture, it's true...
