In Memorium: Grandma

Early this morning my grandmother, Pearl Pearlman, died. Grandma Pearl is the grandmother to my right. She was 98, and she died peacefully in her sleep. She lived her last four months in the loving care of my parents, in their guest room, on the second floor.

GWP is going to be pretty quiet today, as I work on something to be read at her funeral in Minneapolis later this week.

Go in peace, rest in peace, Grandma Pearl. We love you.

Hi Debbie,
As inevitable as this was, it still caught me by surprise and has left much sadness. Grandma Pearl was simply a very good person. And I think your folks did an amazing thing taking care of her in her last few months so she could pass surrounded by family.
Love,
Joey

Joey, how wonderful to hear from you over here. I know, though it was to be expected at 98, she was so sharp up until the last week or so, that it took folks who saw her a bit off guard. I, too, am moved by the way my parents took care of her and am at their house helping them wrap things up this weekend. She had a lovely pic of you and Gilat on her bulletin board, and I know that you, and all the grandkids, were always very high in her thoughts. I'll be writing up some of the stories she shared with me those last months--I tried to do a kind of abbreviated oral history with her before it all got lost.
